What MINT PDO threads are

MINT threads are absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) sutures with barbs designed to engage soft tissue. MINT has FDA clearances for specific device indications; PDO threads are FDA-cleared devices, not “FDA-approved” drugs.

What threads are designed to address

Threads are most relevant when tissue position or selected facial suspension is part of the concern. They are not interchangeable with filler or Sofwave because each treatment changes a different component.

PDO threads vs Sofwave

Sofwave is non-invasive ultrasound remodeling. PDO threads are inserted beneath the skin and mechanically engage tissue. The choice depends on whether the primary issue is skin laxity, tissue position, degree of change desired and tolerance for invasiveness and recovery.

PDO threads vs filler

Filler adds volume or support. Threads address tissue position. Adding filler to a face that primarily needs lifting can create unnecessary fullness, while using threads for a volume deficit may not solve the underlying problem.

Nonsurgical does not mean surgical-level lifting

PDO threads can create a meaningful but selected nonsurgical change. They should not be presented as equivalent to a facelift. Dr. Hussain can explain when the likely benefit is modest and when surgical consultation may be more appropriate.

Your Questions, answered!

How long do PDO threads last?

The threads are absorbable, while the visible effect and tissue response vary. Duration depends on anatomy, technique, thread type, tissue characteristics and individual response.

Are MINT PDO threads FDA approved?

MINT PDO threads are FDA-cleared medical devices. FDA “approval” is a different regulatory pathway used for certain higher-risk device classes and drugs.

Can I combine threads with filler?

Sometimes, when both tissue position and volume need to be addressed. Combination treatment should be conservative and anatomy-driven.

How much downtime should I expect?

Swelling, bruising, tenderness, dimpling, asymmetry or a pulling sensation can occur during recovery. Your exact aftercare and activity restrictions should be reviewed before treatment.
