A lip flip uses a small amount of a neuromodulator around selected upper-lip muscle fibers so more of the existing lip may show at rest or with a smile. It does not add hyaluronic-acid volume.
Depending on the treatment plan, Dr. Hussain may select a neuromodulator based on anatomy, prior response and desired duration. Cosmetic use around the upper lip is off-label.

Important
A lip flip is an off-label use of botulinum toxin. “Off-label” means the medication is being used in a way that is not included in the FDA-approved cosmetic indication. Off-label prescribing is common in medicine but should be discussed with your physician.

The easiest way to understand the difference is position versus volume. A lip flip changes muscle activity so the existing upper lip may show differently. RHA filler adds hyaluronic-acid volume and can be used to support shape, border, proportion or fullness depending on the product and plan.
Some patients want only a flip. Some want filler. Some may benefit from a conservative combination. The right choice depends on what you are actually trying to change.

Explain what bothers you in photos and in motion. Do you want more visible pink lip? More volume? Better symmetry? A softer gummy smile? A more defined border? Those goals sound similar but may call for different techniques.

Inara offers both DAXXIFY and Jeuveau. Product choice for an off-label lip-flip treatment is individualized and should be discussed with Dr. Hussain rather than assumed from a menu.

It can make more of the upper lip visible, but it does not add true volume the way filler does.
Duration varies by product, dose and individual muscle activity. Dr. Hussain will discuss expected timing based on the plan used.
Because the orbicularis oris muscle contributes to lip function, temporary changes in tasks such as sipping, using a straw or certain speech movements can occur. This is one reason dosing should be conservative and individualized.
They can sometimes be combined because they address different aspects of the lip. Whether that is appropriate depends on your anatomy and goals.
